Jedna z dziwniejszych atrakcji w Milton Keynes została odnowiona. Pomalowano stado betonowych krów, świeża farba zapewne zakonserwuje ten wyjątkowy obiekt sztuki, który cieszy oko lokalnych mieszkańców.

Te modele to repliki autorstwa Billa Billingsa, natomiast oryginały przebywające obecnie w Milton Keynes Museum powstały w 1978 roku, a ich autorką jest Liz Leyh. Repliki są widoczne z West Coast Mainline i z drogi w Bancroft Park.

Oryginalne krowy zostały wykonane jako podziękowanie ze strony Korporacji Rozwoju Milton Keynes. Ponieważ były dość delikatne, wykonano z betonu i drutu repliki, dostępne obecnie na wolnym powietrzu. Ten rodzaj sztuki, jaki reprezentuje wspomniane stado krów jest nierzadko tematem dyskusji, a wartość artystyczna jest kwestionowana z wielu stron. W moim odczuciu jest to jałowy i niepotrzebny spór. O gustach się nie powinno rozmawiać, jednej osobie się podoba, drugiej odwrotnie i trzeba zaakceptować ten stan rzeczy.

One of the weirdest and certainly eye-catching attractions of Milton Keynes -  herd of concrete cows has been repainted. This initiative aims to preserve this well known public art.

These models in MK are replicas, created by Bill Billings, the originals were designed back in 1978 by Liz Leyh. The originals are available to see at Milton Keynes Museum, the replicas though are visible from the road and the West Coast Mainline in Bancroft Park.

The original cows were made as a leaving present from the Milton Keynes Development Corporation. Because they were very delicate, the replica set was made from concrete and wire, and it's available to admire outdoors. This public art presenting herd of cows is often talked about within MK community and many people question their actual artistic value. But the thing is, there is no point to dispute about taste. One person may like it, the other not and let's leave it there.
