Dane wskazują ponad milion recept (dokładnie 1,086,832) na antydepresanty przepisanych w NHS Bedfordshire, Luton i Milton Keynes w skali roku do marca - co daje miesięcznie liczbę 85.1 recept na każde 1,000 pacjentów. W poprzednim roku było to 82.1, co pokazuje 4-procentowy wzrost. Z kolei zeszłoroczne dane stanowiły 8-procentowy wzrost w odniesieniu do lat 2019-2020. Antydepresanty są oczywiście najczęściej używane na choroby psychiczne w Anglii. Podnoszą poziom serotoniny w mózgu i skutecznie działają na depresję i zaburzenia lękowe.

MIND podkreśla, że za znaczący wzrost depresji i innych chorób psychicznych odpowiedzialna jest pandemia Covid-19.

W zasadzie depresja i nerwica lękowa to nowe pandemie, z którymi jeszcze długo będziemy się zmagać. W skali kraju przepisano 83 miliony recept z antydepresantami do marca 2022, co jest wzrostem z poziomu 79 milionów przed rokiem. Problem musi zostać rozwiązany, im szybciej zostaną wdrożone skuteczne terapie i rozwiązania, tym lepiej zarówno dla pacjentów, jak i dla całego systemu opieki zdrowotnej.

Prescriptions of antidepressants are on the rise in Luton, Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire for last two years. Figures released lately by leading mental health charity MIND shown a significant increase in the number of prescriptions in England.

That could be related with worsening of the mental health nationwide. The data shows over 1 million prescriptions (1,086,832) for antidepressants given out in NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes in the year to March - which equals a monthly average of 85.1 prescriptions per 1,000 patients. It was an increase of 4% from the previous year, when an average of 82.1 patients received prescription per 1,000, which was an 8% increase from 2019-2020. Antidepressants are the most commonly used for mental health in England. They significantly increase the level of serotonin in the brain and they are often chosen to treat anxiety and depression.

MIND says that pandemic is the reason that caused this spike of depression, anxiety and the other mental health issues. It has to be stated that many people don't want to seek help, even though their issue is really worrying and hard to treat. Across England antidepressants appeared on 83 million prescriptions in the year to March, which is the rise from 79 million in the previous year. Depression and anxiety are the other pandemics in the post Covid-19 pandemic world. The quicker it will be dealt with the better.
