Ogromne problemy w opiece stomatologicznej w ramach NHS w Anglii.

Radni Milton Keynes zwracają uwagę, że nie wystarczająco dużo robi się dla pacjentów, całych rodzin, które cierpią z powodu kryzysu w opiece stomatologicznej, oferowanej w ramach NHS. To problem obsrerwowany w skali całego kraju. Wielu ludzi nie miało możliwości umówić się na wizytę z dentystą minionego lata.

Angielski think tank HealthWatch wskazuje, że aż czterech na każdych pięciu pacjentów miało tego typu kłopoty.

"Liczba osób, która odwiedza dentystę znacząco spada i jedynie 30% dzieci z Milton Keynes było u dentysty w ciągu ostatniego roku", powiedział radna Jane Carr.

Jak podkreśla NHS England przez zakażenia Covid-19 wiele przychodni dentystycznych pracuje na dużo mniejszych obrotach. W związku z tym ogromnie dużo pacjentów musi czekać na wizyty o wiele dłużej. 

"Dentyści (w systemie NHS) stracili w znaczącej mierze rządowe wsparcie finansowe w ostatniej dekadzie, co sprawia, że pacjenci płacą astronomiczne kwoty za prywatną opiekę stomatologiczną. Obecny system musi się znacząco zmienić zanim nierówności jeszcze bardziej się pogłębią", podsumowała Jane Carr.

Milton Keynes councillors say that not enough is being done for families suffering due to NHS dental crisis. With families having major issues to access NHS dentists councillors raised their voice. This is a nationwide issue. Many people were unable to make an appointment with local NHS dentists last summer.

HealthWatch England says it was as many as four out of each five patients struggled to arrange the appointment. 

"The number of local people who are seeing their NHS dentist is declining and just 30% of children in Milton Keynes saw an NHS dentist in the last year", said councillor Jane Carr.

NHS England said that due to Covid infections dental surgeries accross the country are operating at a "significantly reduced capacity." Basically because of that many patients across the country have to wait so much longer for the treatment.

"Dentists have lost a colossal amount of Government funding over the past decade, forcing people to pay astronomical prices for private care. The current system needs an overhaul before health inequalities deepen any further", councillor Jane Carr concluded.
